My Little Snow Fairy

Hannah asked if she could play outside after our "big" snowstorm last week (school was canceled for an entire week!) Instead of pulling on boots or a coat, she chose her tutu and fairy wings. I love you, Sweetheart!

Snow Day!

When we moved out here to Washington, I thought we'd be leaving all the white stuff behind! We were pretty convinced because we left our snow-blower and even our snow shovels in Ohio. But apparently we were misinformed, because it started snowing yesterday and it hasn't stopped since.Naturally, school was closed for the day. All the kids in the neighborhood headed to the Neilsen's house to sled down their steep driveway.

Logan loves the snow!
The boys stayed out several hours, sledding, throwing snowballs, and building snowmen (and a snow dog, Logan tells me), sometimes without a coat. Yes, that's Logan in a short-sleeved shirt. He kept assuring me that he wasn't cold!
As much as I would rather be busting out my flip-flops and watching daffodils and tulips pop out of the ground, I have to admit that the snow is very beautiful on all the evergreen trees. I guess I can live with it...for a few days.

Ironic

This is what it looks like outside today. It's been snowing almost nonstop for two days. And this is what I received in the mail today.
I ordered them last week when it was 70 degrees outside. Spring can be so cruel sometimes.

P.S. These are the absolute BEST flip-flops on the planet - Skechers Heatwaves! They are so cute and comfy! I bought a pair two years ago and wore them almost every day from April-October for two years. They come out with new colors/designs every year. (These are last year's model, so I got them on clearance $15.00 @ 6PM.com) Do yourself a favor and get some! You wont be sorry...if the snow ever melts.

Last Winter Post (Hopefully!)

Today I stumbled upon these sledding pictures from January that I forgot about. I figured I'd better hurry and get them posted since Spring is right around the corner (yes, I know it's wishful thinking).
We have a perfect sledding hill right down the street from our house. During the snowy season, Andrew and Logan beg us almost daily to take them sledding. They can't get enough!
Around sunset when Bryan and the boys returned, I started getting everyone ready for bed. After a while I noticed that it was pretty quiet and Logan was nowhere to be found. We searched the whole house, calling his name, and finally found him in the kitchen.

That CANNOT be comfortable! I guess all that sledding wore him out!

Setting Up the Tree

Well, Summer unboxed the Christmas tree today along with the countless boxes of ornaments and decorations..... despite the fact that it's still November. Still, I have to give her credit; her mother frequently has the house decked out in Chrismas decor the day after Thanksgiving. That being said, the tree is up and she's happily decorating it while Christmas music chimes away in the background (yes, there are several stations already playing Christmas music). The kids came up and pulled out their old Mickey Christmas caps from when we spent Christmas in Disneyland a few years ago. That sure was a fun vacation, and it was nice to get away from the snow.

Speaking of snow, Logan loves to play in it. The first snow of the year came on Thanksgiving and Logan kept looking out the window yelling "IT'S SMOWING!!! SMOW! SMOW!!" Everytime we go outside to get in the car, he takes a detour onto the lawn to step through the inch of snow that actually stuck to the ground, and Andrew's already asking if he can pull out the sled and slide down the hill on the north end of the elementary school. Unfortunately, it doesn't work when there are only a few patches of snow here and there.

We're planning on sticking around for the holidays again this year, especially since it would cost over $1200 for us all to fly home, and it's probably best, seeing as how we'll be t-minus two months from Hannah's arrival. We stayed in Cleveland last year, and it turned out really nicely to be able to spend the morning together with just our family, and then spend Christmas with friends the rest of the day. We even fired up the webcam so the kids could chat with Summer's parents and show them what they recieved from Santa.
