Great News: Our beloved van is back from the shop and back in commission! Now ($1000 later -ugh!), everyone can ride in their own seat, not touching another person. So for the time being, we have two cars!!!When we were driving to church on Sunday (in blissful minivan comfort rather than cramped in a two-door sardine can), Andrew said, "It's kinda good our van broke. If it didn't, we wouldn't know how good it is."
Too true! It's sad that sometimes we have to have things taken away from us in order to really appreciate them! We've had a pretty rough car year, starting with Bryan's car accident, then the incident with the Buick on the way home from Cedar Point, and the most recent leaks in the van gaskets. I guess we needed an extra strong kick in the pants to be truly grateful for our cars!
You know what else I am grateful for right now?
We can fill our van with gasoline at $1.85 per gallon!!!
During the summer, when gas was over $4.00, I thought we'd never see it under $3.00 again, much less under $2.00! I don't really even mind filling it up when it's this cheap.
*LATER NOTE*
Gas has dropped to $1.79 now, AND I had .40 off per gallon from my Giant Eagle Fuel Perks, SO I filled our van at $1.39 per gallon! Only $23.00 to fill our entire van!!!

yeah! what relief you must feel. as soon as I read the word "gasket", my heart went out to you...gasket=expensive. :)
Yeah!!! I'm so glad your van has been resurrected! Don't you love the gas prices! It just makes me smile when I drive by the gas station and see a 1 instead of a 3 in the first spot! Oh and BTW, seven more days!
Sister that is great that your van is back and that gas is so low! Even here in Utah its gone way down. Yesterday it was 2.05 THAT ROCKS!!!
HOORAY! Glad you won't be squished anymore. You can be "too close" to your family.
I know exactly how you feel. I've been feeling how small my house is because I had my sister and brother in law living with us and their little girl. Now they are gone, I feel we have so much room now!! I love it!!
It's all so true!! Why can't we appreciate what we have, when we have it? So glad you have the mini back. We're old, if we're glad to have a mini van to drive!! ha ha
P.S. And a hip hip hooray for gas prices!!
-yay for 2 cars! yay for cars with enough room for everyone!
-this morning in the car i told the kids about Andrew talking about Obama sounding more reasonable and they thought it was great! then they got out of the car to go to school saying, "Bye Obama," "Bye O' Mama," "Bye O'Sister!" (hmmm maybe i'll put that up on our blog!)
-so Russ is saving every drop of leave he has in order to come visit you guys and Chris & Deb. we are looking forward to seeing you when you come here!
I love the fact that the price of gas has gone down so much! It is incredible! I know how you feel with having to go without something a while before realizing what a blessing it is. We had to uninstall our kitchen sink plumbing for a week or so to get in the new counters and it was hard having to use all throw away dishware or washing it in the bathroom sink, ugh!
Let's hope the gas prices stay down!
I was without my 10-year-old, beat-up minivan for almost 2 weeks after Jeromy had an accident and we had to get him another car. Now I appreciate it a lot more. I'm still a little jealous that Jeromy got the new car, but mine's a better size for kids, and it probably shouldn't be driven as much as Jeromy would drive it, so I get it for a couple more years.
Yea for your new van!! Isn't it crazy these fluctuating gas prices! I fill mine every time I drive by a good price!
